Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

What is Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)?

Our EAP Program involves equine activities set up and facilitated by a licensed mental health professional and a horse professional. The goal is to build skills such as personal responsibility, anger management, healthy coping, self-confidence, and self-control.

We also have sessions designed for Therapists, Teachers, Administrators, Social Workers and their staff.  They will be taught how Equine Assisted Therapies can help their organizations.

EAL develops life skills and utilizes the non-verbal relationship between horse and human. It is particularly effective with exceptional students, those at risk of dropping out, and survivors of many types of trauma.

Stepping Stone School of Horsemanship is staffed with dedicated, hard-working professionals, and volunteers. Executive Director, Lia Sader, is a certified EAGALA (The Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) Equine Specialist. She is also a NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) and EFMHA (Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association) member.

Nancy Perleberg is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), M.S., and is a certified Mental Health Specialist thru EAGALA Founder Greg Kersten’s OK Corral Series.

Letter of Appeal

This is a picture of one of our Tennessee Walking Horses. When purchased at auction we were told that she had been in an accident. Her orbital bone (in her skull) was crushed & her pelvis had been fractured, still she is a favorite here at the farm...

Recycled Feed Bags

The mission of T-Oats is to help feed and care for rescued horses and assist in making the healing connection between humans and horses.

http://www.t-oats.org

Whether it is to feed and care for rescued horses or to help make a connection between humans and horses who need "healing", our goal is to help facilitate that connection through the sale of T-Oats (totes). Creating multi-use shopping bags/totes from feed bags also keeps #5 recycle plastic bags out of the landfills or off of burn piles . . . an added environmental benefit!

Horsemanship

Horsemanship is a well known, effective method for human beings to mirror themselves through an unconventional communications channel.  It puts humans and horses together in an interactive setting which creates an exceptional sounding board for the soul; a vessel of motivational change.

Guidance plays a key role in assisting our community in refocusing efforts towards understanding the world around use. Offering that change for self exploration has been a passion made real by Lia who has created programs and activities, which connect  people with animals for the betterment of self image.
